binge-watching mango rolls from Mango Cherub + a day trip to Daejeon because I'm a Seoul-hating human being
i've been going back and forth for about a decade, but in the last 2-3 years, Sacred Heart's weighting has gotten out of hand and I've turned around several times
for this trip, I decided to go for an open run.
🕢arrive at Daejeon Station at 7:28 a.m
a quick explanation for foreign tourists unfamiliar with Daejeon!
due to its location, it is halfway between Seoul and Busan, making it a highly accessible tourist destination for those traveling by KTX.
hot springs without the glitz of Seoul and Busan, but accessible by public transportation♨️(meteoric hot springs) and a large arboretum🌿(Hanbad Arboretum), Mountain🏔️(Bomun Mountain), Lake✨(Great Blue Lake), etc.
there are also several department stores for shopping and plenty of good restaurants and atmospheric cafes to enjoy the city's delights.
highly recommended if you're tired of the hustle and bustle of Seoul and Busan

the official opening time of Sacred Heart Daejeon Station is 7:30, but there was already a wait.
i've even seen customers already paying and leaving. what time do you open, staff?

the best way to get to Jeongdong Cultural Center is through Eoksijang Market. here you'll find a traditional Korean market. it's not fancy, but it's full of emotion and energy.
🕢 â7:43 AM Arrive at Jeongdong Cultural Center
the weighting number was 20, which was very compliant.
jeongdong Cultural Temple was traveler-friendly, with storage lockers and several tables to eat at.
🕢 â7:55 a.m. Arrive at Sacred Heart Main Office (no weighting)
it was 8:00 before opening time, but the store was already open and bustling with customers.
the replacement customer was out of bread when he arrived.
as you can imagine, Sacred Heart has a lot of different types of bread, and they opened earlier than the opening time, so I didn't expect them to have everything.
so I debated whether or not to open it up, but there was more bread than I thought there would be.
at 8 o'clock, the bakery seems to be filled with popular and classic breads. (Bomun Mountain Eri, matcha fried tofu bread, melon bread, onion bread, sausage bread, pollock roe baguette, etc.)
the staff is busy filling the buns, but it's best to wait until after 10:11 to be safe and buy all the buns at Sacred Heart.
fYI, the chocolate baguettes don't come out until after 9:00😂
i figured I'd be visiting several Sacred Heart locations anyway, so I quickly paid and left before the crowds got too big.
when you check out, there are already customers waiting for you (🕢 as of 8:08 am)
don't be vague about 8:00 or go past 8:00, get there at least 10 minutes before they open!
inside the bakery, we'll usei don't have a set path you can also take your time and think about it until you're blue in the face.
🕢 â8:08 AMsandwich Stops 🥪(no weighting)
it's not as busy as you'd expect, and there are plenty of cashiers. there are 4 or 5 checkout counters, and although not pictured, there is a rack where you can put down the bread you bought at Sacred Heart. there's also a space next to the rack where you can put your suitcase if you need to leave it for a while, so it's very traveler-friendly!
it's smaller than the main store, but as a later space, it's clean and well thought out.
i went for the French mango and yakisoba bread, but the French mango bread was out of stock! The staff told me I would have to wait 40 minutes, so I headed to the cake boutique.
🕢 â8:14 AM Sacred Heart Cake Boutique(30 minutes to get in)
waiting lines have formed around the cake boutique building and into the underground parking lot.
the underground parking garage also had a few layers of lines, but they were a bit long. it took 30 minutes in this line.
if you're only going to buy rolls and cakesif you go to a shiru specialty store, the wait is shorter.
i also stopped by the cake boutique to purchase a slice of cake or other bread.
as soon as I walked in, I felt comfortable with the directions and directions.

sure? Inventory isn't what I planned... i wanted to buy a package of matcha rolls, but they were out of stock.
but my friend, who came in about 13 minutes after me, said there were several packages of matcha rolls.
everything is luck. if you make an open run, you miss, you miss.
some rolls, such as the pure roll, matcha roll, and yogurt roll, are limited to one per person.
the high temperature for the day was 22 degrees, so we wanted the whipped cream to meltcold packsandpacking ice packsin the following example.

it claims to last up to 7 hours and comes with 3 ice packs. there's an additional charge, but it seems minimal considering the insulated bag ($3,500) is very sturdy and the quill for the ice packs ($1,000) (full review coming soon, along with a recommendation for Breadshelf)
i stopped back at the sandwich stop to buy a French mango, and when I came out it was 9:03

it was a baseball game day, and I walked by the Sacred Heart main office at 6 p.m. before heading home, down the street from the tteokbokki restaurant next door
there was a wait...
conclusion
if you're going to open-run, make sure you open-run!

the best route for a morning open run at the Sacred Heart Main Store!
buy cakes and rolls from a cake boutique first (the cakes are really heavy, even without ice packs)
leave purchased cakes and rolls in the sandwich station rack and purchase sandwiches. place purchased sandwiches in the rack as well
paying for bread at the main store, then walking directly into the sandwich stop using the connected staircase to grab the cake and bread you left in the rack
in fact, if there weren't too many people, I think I could go straight from the sandwich station to the main store and buy bread, but it's a matter of conscience and I've never done it, so I doubt it.
