At a glance

With light luggage, the AREX train (4,750–13,000 won) is the best way into Seoul; big bags favor the 17,000-won limousine bus, and after the last trains around midnight it's a night bus or a flat-rate taxi (70,000–95,000 won).

Your flight lands at Incheon at 10:40 p.m. — do you still catch a train into Seoul, or is it already night-bus territory?
That one question decides most airport transfers, and fares and last-train times change often enough that older guides mislead.
Below are the 2026 numbers, checked against the official fare tables: what to take from Incheon International Airport (ICN), what to take from Gimpo International Airport (GMP), and how to move between the two.

✨ The 30-second answer

Match your situation first, details after.

  • Light luggage, arriving between 05:00 and 22:00 → the All-Stop Train: 4,750 won and immune to traffic.

  • Two or more big suitcases, or a hotel near a bus stop → limousine bus, 17,000–18,000 won.

  • Three or four people together → a flat-rate taxi works out to about 21,000–32,000 won each before tolls, a modest premium over the 17,000-won bus for door-to-door service.

  • Landing after roughly 22:30 → read the midnight section before you commit to anything.

Trains win on speed, buses win on luggage, taxis win after midnight.

🚆 AREX: Express or All-Stop train?

Both trains leave from the basement level of each terminal and end at Seoul Station, where you can transfer to subway Lines 1 and 4 and to long-distance trains.
For most solo travelers the All-Stop is the smarter buy; the Express sells you certainty.

The Express Train is nonstop — 43 minutes from T1, 51 from T2 — with every seat reserved.
The fare is a flat for adults from either terminal (9,500 won for children).
Buy online or at the B1 Express customer centers, and check the AREX site for accepted cards; partner channels sell it online at a discount (prices vary).

The All-Stop Train is the same line running as a normal subway: 4,750 won from T1 or 5,350 won from T2 with a T-money card, in 59 and 66 minutes respectively.
It stops at Hongik University Station (Hongdae) and Digital Media City on the way in, which for many visitors beats going via Seoul Station entirely.

For the All-Stop you need a T-money card (sold at the convenience stores in arrivals) or a single-journey ticket from the machines, which costs 100 won extra plus a 500-won refundable deposit.
Our transit payment guide covers every card option in detail.

🚌 Limousine bus: which route goes to your neighborhood?

The bus costs more than the All-Stop train and takes longer, but it swallows any amount of luggage and drops you closer to most hotels.
Standard city routes charge 17,000 won going by the operator's pages for routes 6002 and 6015, so check your own route's page before you ride; the premium K Airport Limousine coaches charge 18,000 won.

At T1, buses board outside the 1F arrivals hall; each route has its own exit number, shown on the airport's boarding guide and at the ticket booths.
At T2 they leave from the B1 level.

Your suitcases ride in the underfloor bays, which is the whole point: no stairs, no gates, no squeezing past commuters.

🚕 Taxi, Kakao T, or k.ride?

A taxi is the only door-to-door option, and for three or four people it stops being a luxury.
The predictable way to buy one is the flat-rate International Taxi; apps and the meter work too, if you know the surcharges.

International Taxi charges flat rates by district, plus tolls (2,000–3,200 won): 70,000 won for Seoul's near-west side up to 95,000 won for the far east, with central Seoul at and Gangnam at — vans and deluxe cars run 100,000–140,000 won.
Book at least 24 hours ahead at intltaxi.co.kr or in its app; on arrival, go to the International Taxi counter or the information desk in the arrivals hall.

On the meter, expect a 4,800-won base fare, a night surcharge of 20–40% between 22:00 and 04:00, and the bridge toll — 2,000 won via the Incheon Bridge or 3,200 won via the Yeongjong Bridge route. There is no out-of-city surcharge for trips into Seoul.
No official all-in estimate is published, so treat the flat rates above as your benchmark.
Use only the marked stands: the airport's own taxi page warns about illegal call vans soliciting arrivals.

Kakao T

Needs a Kakao account created through KakaoTalk, which the national tourism agency says you can set up with a local mobile number; you can choose to pay the driver directly by card, cash or T-money

k.ride needs no KakaoTalk account and takes card payment in the app.

🌙 Landing after 10:30 p.m.? Here's the cutoff math

Immigration plus baggage usually takes about an hour, so a flight landing after roughly 22:30 is already gambling on the trains.
Work down this ladder.

  1. If you can reach the platform before the last All-Stop, at about 23:56 from T1, the train still wins.

  2. Missed it? Night buses run into Seoul through the small hours.

  3. Everything else is a taxi: flat-rate if you booked ahead, metered with the night surcharge if not — or a k.ride call from arrivals, which needs no KakaoTalk account.

🚇 Landing at Gimpo (GMP) instead? Just take the subway

Gimpo sits inside the city's rail network, so the calculus is simpler: rail beats everything unless you have a mountain of luggage.

Fares and times here were checked against the official pages in October 2026, but airport transport changes often.
Before you fly, give the Express timetable and the bus routes thirty seconds each.
Then land, follow the signs for trains and buses, and let the tables do the deciding.
